Saturday so far

As most of you know, there is a flea market just outside my window at least on Saturdays before noon. Today I walked down there to see if I could see anything interesting; keeping in mind that rubbish is still rubbish even if it costs 2 SEK. It is like a trip back in time, some of the stuff people are trying to sell, I would be embarrassed if someone saw me throw away. It was a cavalcade of bad taste. And I do not really need to mention the white-trash (shi-go) people that was going through the bins of too much washed clothing. And what is up with those small porcelain statuettes of cats? Stop that! If you see one, smash it, smash it hard. Next week I am considering to buy all that I see and kill ‘em. But in the middle of all crap this plastic handbag just shone with an aura of cuteness. It cost 5 SEK, and the girl that sold it was going to Guatemala as a volunteer worker. Had a nice chat with her. Apparently, her sister in London got it for her. I have so far not figured out who Mitsufii is, but I guess it is that little rabbit.

Went by Systembolaget today, and found this. A new cider made from cloudberries (hjortron). I just tasted it and it is quite all right.

Somekinda running event is taking place just outside my window. It is all happening here.

Me and the cats are outside in the sun on the balcony. Just look at that pretty neckline. Some cats are just purrrrfect.

Mitsufii is indeed the rabbit’s Japanese name. The rabbit is in fact Dutch, her Dutch name is Nijntje, her English name is Miffy, and no doubt she has a Swedish name too. She is universally loved, but nowhere more so than in Japan. In Ota-ku she appears on all the little books that the ward issues children to chart their immunisation records, etc. Ota-ku does acknowledge Dick Bruna’s (the Dutch guy who invented the rabbit) copyright, so no doubt he is getting very rich out of this Japanese obsession.
