The best recommendation for when it snows in Tokyo, is the same recommendation that goes for any other country - stay in doors, you will only encourage this bad weather behaviour by going outside! However, today happens to be
成人の日 (coming of age day) and with that a pretty good chance of spotting some girls in kimono. And here you go, 5 very cute ladies down at shibuya crossing, on their way up Meiji jingu (wearing geta in this weather is not only true to tradition it is extremely slippery too, 頑張ってね!)
But, let's start from the beginning... this morning I had decided to sleep in late, since I was seriously tired after yesterday's Nagoya trip. I woke up a couple of times during the morning and thought that it seemed really foggy outside. It was not until I checked facebook that I realised it was snowing and sleeping all day plan turned into a "yoyogi-harajuku-shibuya" walk, since this is most likely the only snow we'll get here this year.
Cars covered in snow on my street, so is the poor ginko trees.
Not so much running going around at the track field next to NHK today.
I took the fire escape out of my building since I wanted to see if I could get some photos of yoyogi with Shinjuku in the background. Due to about 200m visibility, I did not get any.
Down at the inokashiradori crossing, koban-people are out telling cars without winter tire that they are not allowed to try and drive up the hill towards Harajuku. Probably a good idea since half the street was already blocked with stopped cars that couldn't manage to get up.
It looks pretty, but it's heavy. I kind of realise now why the park guards a few years back told us we were not allowed climb the trees during sakura; today when I passed through, at least two big branches and half a tree at the entrance came down.
Another kimono girl in the snow.
Up on the pedestrian bridge in Harajuku with a view over the Olympic arena.
It is actually quite a lot of snow, as you can see from what is piling up on the fence.
The taxi had problems driving in Harajuku too.
Police was out helping cars that got stuck.
The snow had melted some more down in Shibuya - slush puppy with dirty flavour.
Donki in the snow.
And finally, for those who complains there are rarely photos of me - snowy Emma at Shibya crossing.
