CeBit 2007 in Hannover

This is the true story of how a bus full of engineers from Sony Ericsson in Lund managed to get from Lund to Hannover and back again in 38 hours.

Captain's Buffee

We had dinner on the ferry (TT-line from Trelleborg to Travemunde) and did some serious trucker spotting. At least two mullets, T-shirts with Motorhead on, indians on, lions on, there were leather wests, the important trucker-belly and a fondness for bacon. I should have asked to have my photo taken with one of them, preferably outside a lorry. The girls in the photo are not truckers they are Jayne and Karolina (sometimes refered to as Oscar's Karolina).

Peter and Planksteksdrink

When you walk in to a room you can feel that people are looking at you, and the three of us (Jayne, Karolina and I) sure did feel that we were being looked up and down, when walking in to the very posh lounge after dinner. Either trucker's have a fondness for girls as well as bacon or/and it has something to do with ferries with 80s style interior design that make people want to look at something else more closely, but I'm not really used to have people checking me out that way. And it should be added, I'm well worth the time and effort to look at a bit extra. (The boy in the photo is not a trucker, it is the legendary Peter 3 Nilsson)

The Room

We had a lovely view. Strangly that light house was outside our window all the way to germany. Two sofas that could be turned into beds and we were vibrated to sleep. I might also have been slightly intoxicated. We slept well but Jayne was attacked by the shower in the moring (wakeup call was at 6 am), I heard several random screems when she was in there. (The Light house in the photo is not a trucker, it is a reprint of an ill-chosen original.

The Sony Ericsson Exhibition Area

We had one of the better booths. Lots of people, most give-aways and a DJ. In conclusion, the SEMC exhibition area had the feeling of a beach party, while Samsung's felt like a jewellery store (Korean crap jewellery store that is). (The sign in the photo saying "I (SEMC) Rythm" is not a Trucker it is part of an advertising campaign)

Germanic Cousine

I wanted to show the host country support and respect and therefore had sauerkraut for lunch, served with mashed potatos and kohlrullanden (or whatever they were called). (The food in the photo is not a Trucker, it is something that truckers probably would like to eat, given that it had contained meat, which it didn't.)

Highlight of the Trade Fair

There were a lot of crap at the fair, lot of uninteresting chinese sheit, badly displayed and communicated businesses, but it was well worth the trip. Just look at the absolutely lovely carpet in the enterence hall. And it was big too probably 3x20 meters. We walked around at the fair for 5 hours and were pretty exhausted when returning to the bus parking lot. Some people had got lost and we had to await their return. (The carpet in the photo is not a Trucker, it is a kick-ass patterned carpet.)

Entertainment in the Lounge

After another Captain's buffee (with free wine and beer) we went to the hottest spot on the ferry. The place to be. The hang-out spot for the rich and famous. Basically, the only place that you could be if you didnt want to sit in your tiny cabin. The entertainment was scary, pre-recorded music and a man doing his best to destroy every tune he played. It was as plankstek as it gets. In the end he even did requests, I'm no longer sure why we encouraged him to sing, but it seemed like a good idea at the time. Max talked about the joys of parenthood, I was asked to dance (and did dance too), one boy bought me a beer, someone touched my leg and another told me several times that he had gotten one of the singel cabins for the night. Yes, and I believe someone has a photo of my toungue with a plastic drink sword pushed through it. (The man in the Photo could very well be a trucker, just trying to earn some extra cash on the ferry trip)

I'm now at home, updating my blog and thinking of getting in a few more hours of sleep so I can celebrate St Patrick's day in style tonight. Need to go out on town too and get some shopping done. Need to find something green, don't want to get pinched tonight... or wait... if I come a cross a cute boy he'll be more than welcome to pinch me.
